Aarushi murder: No bail for Rajesh Talwar

Last updated on: May 27, 2008 16:09 IST

A court in Noida on Tuesday sent Noida double murder case accused Rajesh Talwar to three days police remand as it rejected the bail application moved by him.

Chief Judicial Magistrate A K Singh granted the application moved by police seeking custody after prosecution pleaded that his police remand was essential for further probe into the case.

Police had demanded seven-day custody for Talwar, but the court allowed three-day remand only.

Two bail applications, one on health grounds and another claiming loopholes in investigations, and a police plea seeking his remand came up before the court.

The Noida police had on May 23 arrested Dr Talwar for allegedly murdering his 14-year-old daughter, Aarushi, and Hemraj.

According to cops, the doctor committed the crime because the duo knew about his extra-marital affair and the two victims themselves shared a close relationship.

Exactly a week after the girl's murder came to light, Meerut Zone's Inspector General Gurdarshan Singh told a press conference that Talwar was arrested after enough evidence was gathered, including the 'strenuous cover-up' attempts by the dentist.

He said Talwar first killed the domestic help on the terrace of the house in the early hours of May 16 and then came down to kill his daughter after having some whiskey.
