'No plan to suspend internet services in J&K'

Summer capital Srinagar was agog with media speculations and rumours on Thursday that after the pre-paid mobile phones were banned, axe was going to fall on the internet services as well.

A highly placed source, however, denied there was any move to ban the internet services in the state.

The government last month banned pre-paid mobile services in the state sending shock among an estimated four million service users in the state.

The move has been challenged in the apex court by the Panthers Party chief professor Bhim Singh.

The ban has affected thousands of youth involved in the business, in one way or the another.

Net savvy Kashmiris were throughout the day making anxious queries from mediapersons and the internet service providers in capital city.

There are thousands of internet users across the Kashmir Valley with scores of net cafes, who are deriving good sustenance from the business.
