No big bash as Mayawati completes 3 years in office

Even as Bahujan Samaj Party president and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati will complete three years in office on Thursday, the usual anniversary bash would be missing this time. "There is no celebration planned for the day", a senior official of her personal secretariat told mediapersons in Lucknow.
Unlike the preceding years when she organized a big bash on her government's previous anniversaries, the completion of three years in office this time will be kept a low-key affair. However, no celebration
could be held in 2009 on account of the clamping of the election code of conduct due to the Lok Sabha polls around that time.
"All that the chief minister proposes to do on Thursday is address a press conference", said a senior official of her personal secretariat.
The first ever dalit woman chief minister of India's most populous state created history in 2007, by leading her party to a clear majority in UP's 403-member state assembly. It was after a gap of 17 years that any party had managed to bag clear majority in the house.
