The Goa police chargesheeted a 25-year-old Nigerian tourist for allegedly raping an Australian woman during her stay in Goa last month. The Crime Branch, which investigated the case, filed the chargesheet in a trial court within 15 days of the incident.
The Police have also requested the court to expedite the hearing as the victim is still in the state and can remain present for deposition before the court during the trial. Obi Okaroafor, a Nigerian, was arrested by Canacona police for allegedly raping 29-year-old Australian woman by spiking her drinks on the night of April 16.

The victim has told police that she had not consented to go physical with the accused but he forced himself on her. The court will examine 27 witnesses in this caseincluding the victim. Okaroafor has been charged under section 342 (confinement) and section 376 (rape) of IPC, police said, adding the accused was earlier arrested for overstaying in Goa despite having deportation notice against him.
