Ten people were killed in a fire which broke out in a village in eastern Nepal, official sources said Tuesday.

Six children and a pregnant woman -- all belonging to the same family -- and three others were burnt to death as the fire gutted about a dozen houses in Ranichuri village, Sindhuli district, Monday night, they said.

Around 50 cattle also perished in the fire that apparently started from a cowshed, police said adding, property worth more than Rs 1,00,0000 million was destroyed in the blaze.

Meanwhile, 34 houses were destroyed in a fire in Sari village in western Nepal, police said.

In Chitawan in central Nepal, 24 houses were gutted when a forest fire spread to a squatters' colony, they said.
