The NCP on Saturday steered clear of the issue of admission of sulking Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh into the party.

"Right now take care of your health. We will discuss politics later," NCP general secretary D P Tripathi advised Singh, when the latter called him up earlier and hailed NCP chief Sharad Pawar during their deliberations.

While Amar Singh is the arch detractor of both BJP and BSP as also of a section of Congress leaders, NCP is the only party in the ruling alliance which is part of the Centre and is also in power in Maharashtra.

Ever since he resigned from key party posts, including that of SP's general secretary earlier this week, Singh has been making not so subtle attempts to woo Pawar.

Yesterday in his blog, the SP leader while attacking the UPA on inflation, had mentioned that the Centre was blaming Pawar (who is agriculture minister) for price rise when it should be the collective responsibility of cabinet and the prime minister.

His phone call to Tripathi is also being seen as an effort to reach out to Pawar.NCP leaders earlier also had ruled out the possibility of Singh joining their party.

"No such move is on," a senior party leader, who declined to be identified, had said yesterday.
