Tarlochan Singh appointed NCM chief

The government on Thursday constituted a seven-member National Commission for Minorities with Tarlochan Singh as its chairman.

The term of the previous commission, headed by Mohammed Shamim, had expired on January 24, 2003, official sources said in New Delhi on Thursday.

The commission has been constituted for a term of three years.

The first NCM was constituted under the chairmanship of Minoo Massani in 1978.
