The third indigenously built extra fast attack craft INFAC T-83 was on Thursday commissioned into the navy boosting its capability to intercept and knock out small crafts intruding into Indian waters.

Built at the Goa Shipyard, the new naval craft is designed to carry state-of-the-art electric-optic detection system and armament, which would enable it to accurately pinpoint and destroy small high-speed craft. It incorporates the latest structural, hydrodynamic and propulsion features and has excellent shallow water capability, useful in the Rann of Kutch (Gujarat) and along the Ratnagiri coast (Maharashtra).

Another three such craft are in the pipeline.
