Police on Friday claimed to have solved the alleged murder of a jeweller's employee in the course of investigations into the recent seizure of explosives here and have detained two suspects, including a girl, for questioning.

Gelatin sticks, detonators and wiring wrapped in a plastic bag had been recovered near Lifeline Hospital on Vadala-road on September 11, and later raids on a flat in city's Indira Nagar locality led to the seizure of gelatine sticks, a revolver, detonators and two catridges on Wednesday, police said.

The arrest of five persons in this connection and their being remanded to its custody led the police to the accused in the murder in August of an employee of a Jalgaon-based jeweller. The culprits, in an attempt to sell gold-biscuits, had approached a merchant in Jalgaon through city-based Juber Rangrej.

The merchant had sent one of his employees to the city to inspect the gold biscuits and estimate their value. This employee stayed in Nasik for two days, after which the accused allegedly killed him and dumped his body in a canal in Sainath Nagar in August, police said.

Since Juber, a resident of Vadala-road locality, knew about the activities of the accused, they tried to eliminate him too. He was shot in the back, but survived, police said.
