The Bombay high court, hearing a petition seeking to make President Pratibha Patil's brother an accused in a Jalgaon murder case, on Friday told the Central Bureau of Investigation that it did not need the court's permission to subject two suspects in the case to scientific tests.

The CBI, which is probing the murder of a Congress leader Vishram Patil, wants to subject Leeladhar Narkhede and Damodar Lokhande to narco analysis, brain mapping and polygraph tests.

The agency today filed a progress report on the probe before a bench of Justice R M S Khandeparkar and Justice V K Tahilramani. The court asked CBI to file further progress report by December 14.

CBI's lawyer Solicitor General Ghulam Vahanavati told the court that the agency had got some fresh evidence regarding involvement of Narkhede.

Vishram Patil, president of Jalgaon district Congress Committee, was murdered on September 21, 2005.

His widow, Rajni Patil, had filed a petition seeking that President Pratibha Patil's brother G N Patil be made an accused in the case for conspiring to kill her husband.
