As many as twenty-three live bombs were recovered from Nandigram on Wednesday even as no untoward incidents were reported after skirmishes between the Trinamool Congress and CPI-M resurfaced.

Police raided Talpati Canal near Janani Itbhata (Brick kiln) in Khejuri block near here in the early hours of Wednesday and recovered 23 live bombs, a rifle and several rounds of ammunition from the area.

District Magistrate (East Midnapur) Anup Agarwal and the Superintendent of Police S S Panda are meeting members of the newly-constituted Trinamul Congress dominated Panchayat Samiti to chalk out solutions.

Meanwhile, the Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee, spearheading the anti-land acquisition movement in Nandigram, has called off its rally at Jadubari Chowk.

Seventeen persons, including 15 Trinamool Congress activists, were injured in clashes on Tuesday.

Violence between the CPI-M and the Trinamool Congress has resurfaced in Nandigram following the murder of CPI-M district committee secretary on August 6.

Earlier, the CBI arrested six persons from Janani Itbhata in May 2007 following seizure of arms and ammunitions from there.

The brick kiln had once been in the news in November last with the Central Reserve Police Force raiding the area and recovering 12 bombs after the incidents of firing.
