Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu has condemned Union Home Minister P Chidambaram's claim that he met him on the Telangana statehood issue.

"While making a statement on Telangana in Lok Sabha yesterday, Chidambaram noted that I met him personally (on the issue). This is totally untrue," Chandrababu said in a statement in Hyderabad.

He alleged the central government that was supposed to find a permanent solution to the vexatious problem was seeking to sidetrack the issue.

The TDP president, who returned to Hyderabad after election campaigning in Anantapur, held discussions with senior party leaders at his residence on Thursday. At the meeting,

Chidambaram's statement in Lok Sabha came up for discussion, party sources said.

Chandrababu reportedly observed that the Congress was deliberately trying to push the blame on others (TDP) without even making its stand on Telangana clear.

"Nothing is in our hands...its for the Congress to take a call on Telangana," Chandrababu asserted.
