Nab all Delhi bus rapists at once: Shinde to police

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde summoned Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar on Tuesday, and directed him to use all the available resources and nab the culprits behind the rape and assault of the 23-year-old physiotherapist who is battling for her life in a Delhi hospital.

Shinde has directed Neeraj Kumar to arrest all the culprits in the shortest possible time, sources told Rediff.com.

The shockwaves of Sunday's appalling incident, re-emphasising on the dreadful the law and order set up to ensure safety of women in the national capital, reached the Parliament on Tuesday with senior BJP leader Ram Jethmalani demanding in Rajya Sabha the removal of Neeraj Kumar.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Saba Sushma Swaraj also said the matter was serious in nature and the government should change the law to include capital punishment for those indulging in crimes like rape.

Senior Congress leader and former president of National Commission for Woman Girja Vyas said the government should pass the Sexual Assault Bill and implement the same on priority basis.

Shide, who had been asked by Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari to make a statement after 12 pm, found that the information provided to him was inadequate. Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar sent a message to the home minister to expedite the matter.

Meanwhile, the Delhi police commissioner or one of his junior colleagues is expected to address the media in on Tuesday afternoon.

Two more persons have been arrested in connection with the gang-rape of a 23-year-old student in New Delhi who remained on ventilator in a critical condition, police said on Tuesday.

With the two arrests, the total number of persons arrested in this case has climbed to four.

Two persons were arrested on Monday.

The 23-year-old paramedical student was raped and brutally assaulted by four men who also attacked her male friend and threw both of them out of the vehicle.
