Businessman Robert Vadra, who arrived with his daughter in Amethi on Sunday night, has no intention of taking up politics.
Ending speculations triggered by his comments earlier in the day, Vadra's wife Priyanka Gandhi told rediff.com: "I know my husband. He is happy in his business. The question (on whether he will join politics) must have been asked in such a manner that he was forced to give a reaction."
When asked during an informal chat with media persons on whether he had plans of joining politics, Vadra had said, "I would definitely contest if the people so desired."
Vadra later took part in a rally in Gauriganj area of Amethi. However, his motorcycle rally was stopped by the district administration at CSM Nagar on charges of violating the model code in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.
Vadra was stopped by the authorities while heading towards Salon area of the district for using more vehicles against the permitted number of ten bikes, District Magistrate J P Gupta said.
He later addressed the electorate in Salon, which is a Gandhi family pocketborough.
In an informal chat with media personnel, Vadra said he is lending support as a family member to take forward Rahul Gandhi's message, though neither Rahul nor Priyanka require any help.
"I have come to share and take Rahul's message to villages and every corner," he said.
To a question on whether it was time for Rahul to become the prime minister, he said that he could not speak on the issue.
Priyanka, who has been in Amethi since Saturday, addressed nearly 20 meetings all over the constituency on Monday.
According to Congress sources, Rahul is also scheduled to address three meetings on February 11 in Sultanpur, Gauriganj and Rae Bareli assembly constituencies, where polling is scheduled for February 15.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party workers stopped Priyanka's cavalcade for a while between Trishundi and Dhmema Bazar here and raised various issues pertaining to development. They also raised slogans in favour of party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
