As Egyptian President-elect Mohammed Mursi began consultations to form a national reconciliation  government, a youth group has launched a website called 'Mursi Meter' to monitor the performance of the Islamist leader.

The website claims that 60-year-old Mursi, one of the top leaders of Islamist group Muslim Brotherhood, made 64 promises during his election campaign and the meter will  document which ones he delivers on in the first 100-day period.

"This is an attempt to document and monitor the performance of Egypt's president-elect Mohammed Mursi against the pledges he made in his election programme for the first 100 days," Al Arabiya quoted the website as saying.

The website lists the five points around which Mursi's 100-day programme focused: bread, traffic, security, fuel, and cleanliness. Under each of those problems, the solutions proposed by Mursi are listed so that each of them can be checked when and if it is implemented on the ground.

The website is the first of its kind in Egypt and is seen by observers as an indication of the drastic change that took place in the country after the popular uprising that toppled longtime ruler Hosni Mubarak in February last year.

Mursi defeated former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq in a nail-biting run-off vote that deeply polarised the country,  pitting radicals, moderates and remnants of the former regime against each other.
