India provides Pakistan more info on Mumbai attacks

August 21, 2009 19:00 IST

India handed over "additional information" on Mumbai attacks to Pakistan High Commissioner Shahid Malik, who met Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao in New Delhi on Friday. During the meeting held following a request by Malik, additional information on the 26/11 terror attacks including inputs on some of the key aspects and accused involved was given by Rao.

While India has been maintaining that it has given enough proof to Pakistan to prosecute Jamaat-ud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed, prime accused in the 26/11 attacks, the Pakistan has been claiming that it cannot implicate

him on the basis of information provided so far.

New Delhi has so far given four dossiers to Islamabad providing inputs on the terror suspects and logistics including communication used by those involved in carrying out the attacks in Mumbai. They also contained responses to many queries raised by Pakistan relating to lone surviving terrorist Ajmal Kasab and others. Malik and Rao's meeting also comes a day after Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the new Indian Foreign Secretary has been invited to visit the country for talks, but New Delhi was yet to respond.
