Security was tightened at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station and other sensitive locations in Mumbai on Wednesday after a threat to carry out explosions in the city, a media report quoted an official as saying.

An anonymous threat call to carry out blasts at several locations was received by the Mumbai police control around 7.30 am on Wednesday, the report stated.

The railway and security authorities at CST were alerted and the entire station complex's security had been beefed up.

"We are taking all possible precautions," a Central Railway official said.

Besides CST, security has been tightened at various locations, including the Siddhi Vinayak Temple in Prabhadevi, some five star hotels, Churchgate and Dadar railway stations.
