Gujarat Director General of Police Chitranjan Singh on Thursday said that he would be sending a team to Mumbai to study the serial blasts that left 18 persons dead and 131 injured.

"A team comprising of officers from the Anti Terrorist Squad and the Ahmedabad Crime Branch would be going to Mumbai soon," Singh told PTI.

"They would be going there for academic purpose to study the incident and learn lessons from it," he said.

When asked if there were any links between the Mumbai blasts and the serial blasts of July 2008 in Ahmedabad, Singh said that they were not ruling out any thing.

It could be that some of the SIMI members accused in the July 26, 2008 blasts, who are absconding, might be involved in the Mumbai blasts going by the type of explosives used, he observed.

Gujarat has been put on high alert following the blasts in Mumbai last evening and security has been enhanced at all strategic points and public places.
