More members of the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak may have been involved in planning the Ajmer blast in October 2007, according to sources in the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Devender Gupta, who was arrested in connection with the Ajmer blast and the Mecca Masjid blast, has reportedly revealed that RSS members Varshney and Ashok Berry were also involved in planning the blast.

The duo had allegedly provided refuge in Lucknow to the suspects who carried out the Ajmer blast. Gupta told his interrogators that the two men helped them find accommodation at a place called Sitapur when the terror operation was being carried out.

Gupta has been questioned by the CBI repeatedly about his role in the Ajmer blast and the Mecca Masjid blast. He has revealed the involvement of other suspects including Kalasanghra and Swami Aseemanand, who are absconding.
The CBI refused to confirm whether Gupta had revealed the involvement of other RSS leaders.

"Investigations are going on and it will not be right to give out more details. We are planning on carrying out more arrests and would not like to tip the suspects off," said a CBI official.
