Modi's pet projects show up at Republic Day parade

Tableaux with a giant machine lion and a replica of bullet train rolled down the majestic Rajpath during the Republic Day celebrations on Monday, putting on display pet projects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi such as the 'Make in India' scheme and 'Jan Dhan Yojana'.

Though 'Swacch Bharat' campaign, which is another area on which the Prime Minister has given much focus on, did not get a display through a tableau, school children later presented a dance on the importance of cleanliness.

A tableau with a huge machine lion with wheels, made by the Department of Industrial Production and Promotion, rolled down the Rajpath depicting Modi's ambitious 'Make in India' initiative, aimed at reviving the job-creating manufacturing sector, facilitating investments and fostering innovation. 

The Department of Financial Services focussed on the 'Jan Dhan Yojna' with a tableau displaying various facilities available for the people. Modi had recently said that 11.5 crore bank accounts have been opened in just over four months after the scheme's launch covering 99.74 per cent households.

Rajpath also witnessed a colourful tableau on 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign, the most recently  launched scheme of the government, which showcased celebrations over the birth of a girl child. 

A replica of Bullet train mounted on the Railway tableau drew applause from the crowd as the national transporter showcased the ambitious high speed train project.

Ancient Indian medicines were prominently displayed in the tableau presented by Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH), which participated for the first time in the Republic Day parade.

The "Jan Dhan Yojna" was highlighted in the tableau which displayed the various facilities available for the people by the Department of Financial Services of finance ministry.

The "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" scheme launched recently by the Prime Minister to create awareness in saving the girl child was put up by the Ministry of Women and Child Development with the theme "Bhavishya Hamara Hai".

The Clean Ganga initiative was highlighted in the floral tableau of Central PWD department under the theme "Maa Ganga" where "Gaumukh" a beautiful landscape of North India was depicted with waters of river Ganga trickling down from the glaciers.

The law and justice ministry also came out with its tableau for the first time under the theme "Walk for Justice" highlighting the Lok Adalats.

The Ministry of AYUSH representing Indian Systems of medicine like Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy highlighted the alternative medical system through its tableau with theme "Ayush for holistic health".

The tableau depicts Yoga system with 'Yogaacharyas' performing 'Yogasanas'. The tableau assumes significance in the wake of Yoga getting global recognition with United Nations declaring June 21 as the International Day of Yoga. 

In last year's Republic Day celebrations, tableaux from 18 states and central ministries and departments presenting varied historical, architectural and cultural heritage of the country were showcased.
