On Tuesday, a popular Narendra Modi received much flak on Twitter for his comment about ‘being ashamed to be born in India’. In fact, #ModiinsultsIndia was the top trending topic in India.

During his address to the Indian community in Shanghai on Saturday, PM Modi had said, “Earlier, you felt ashamed of being born Indian. Now you feel proud to represent the country. Indians abroad had all hoped for a change in government last year.” He followed it up with a similar statement in Seoul on Monday, when he said, "Earlier citizens of India used to regret being born here. They all wanted to leave the country for better opportunities. Now they are ready to return even if they earn less in India than abroad."

So, dear readers, we ask you: tell us if you agree with the prime minister's statement, and if so why.
