Minor mishap delays PM's flight to Copengahen

December 17, 2009 16:16 IST
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's flight to Copenhagen was delayed on Thursday after a hydraulic trolley carrying food items hit the aircraft.

The trolley hit the aircraft at around 12.30 pm while loading food items, causing some minor damages, official sources said.

The flight was supposed to take off at 2.45 pm. Neither the Prime Minister nor any other passenger were on board at the time of the incident.

A standby aircraft was being made ready for the Prime Minister's visit to Copenhagen for attending the climate change conference.

This is the second incident involving a VIP aircraft in the country in just over a week. President Pratibha Patil had a narrow escape on December 9 when the rotor blades of an IAF Mi-17 helicopter in which she was on board hit a shed after landing at the Biju Patnaik airport in Bhubaneswar.

The accident occurred when the helicopter bringing Patil back from Puri was taxiing to the parking bay after landing. The chopper's three rotor blades got twisted after it hit an asbestos shed whose roof was ripped off.
