Minor girl gang-raped, set ablaze by youths in MP

A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by four youths who later set her ablaze when she old her family about the incident on Monday, the police said.

The 15-year-old went to the forest near Khajda Harchand village for answering nature's call on Monday morning when she was overpowered by four youths, who took turns to rape her, police said.

The victim somehow reached house and narrated the incident to her parents, who rushed to the forest in search of the youths.

When the youths came to know that she had informed her parents about the incident, they reached the girl's house and set her ablaze by pouring kerosene on her. The girl suffered 95 per cent burn injuries and was taken to a nearby Primary Health Centre from where she was referred to Sagar district hospital as her condition was serious, they said.

On basis of the victim's statement, police have registered a case against Mukesh Kurmi, Deepak Vishwakarma, Murli Sharma and Vivek Kurmi for rape and attempt to murder. All the accused are absconding, police said, adding a further probe was on.
