Former Karnataka minister and mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy will be brought to Bangalore on March 2 after a transit warrant issued in his name by the Nampally special Central Bureau of Investigation court. Reddy is currently lodged at the Chanchalguda central prison in Hyderabad.

The CBI told the court that they needed to interrogate Reddy in connection with the Associated Mining company scam. Reddy faces charges along with 21 others in the case. He will be produced before the special CBI court on March 2 at Bangalore, following which he will be lodged in the Parapana Agrahara jail, also known as the Bangalore central prison.

There is, however, still no clarity whether he would be taken to Bellary during the course of the probe. He is likely to remain in the Bangalore jail until the investigation is complete.

CBI sources said that even if he were to get bail in Andhra Pradesh he would continue to remain in the Bangalore jail, as this is a different case.

The jail authorities in Hyderabad have started preparations to send Reddy to Bangalore. They are exploring the possibility of flying him down to Bangalore.
