Militants shot at and wounded an activist of the ruling National Conference in Koil village of south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Saturday evening.

A senior police officer said militants barged into the house of Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, 40, and opened fire at him.

"Farooq received a bullet injury in his shoulder and was immediately taken to hospital for treatment", the officer said.

Police has rushed to the spot. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack on the NC activist.
