More plane parts have been washed up on Reunion Island where a wing part from missing Flight MH30 was recovered, the Malaysian transport ministry said on Thursday.
Seat cushions from an aircraft and window panes have been reportedly found. "We have also found debris like window panes, aluminium foil and seat cushions," Liow Tiong Lai told AFP.
However, there was no confirmation if the new debris were from the missing Malaysian Airlines flight. The new items will be tested by a team of experts which were studying a part of a wing that Malaysia earlier in the day said was from MH370.
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak had announced on Thursday morning, "Today, 515 days since the plane disappeared, it is with a very heavy heart that I must tell you that an international team of experts has conclusively confirmed that the aircraft debris found on Reunion Island is indeed from MH370."
The ill-fated Malaysia Airlines jet was carrying 239 crew and passengers, including five Indians, when it disappeared on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8 last year. The search operation had found no verified sign of the plane.
Malaysia Airlines said the confirmation that the debris found on an Indian Ocean island came from flight MH370 was a "major breakthrough" in solving the mystery of the flight's disappearance.
