Mehbooba Mufti was on Monday re-elected as the president of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party for a further period of three years.
Addressing party workers after her re-election, Mehbooba said, "PDP has revived peoples' faith in the democracy and democratic institutions in the state."
"Our party has not only created a sense of security among the people, but also set an example of good governance after attaining power in 2002", she said and added that 'the biggest achievement of PDP was restoring peoples' faith in the democracy and democratic institutions'.
"After 2002 there had been improvement in the political situation and mood of the people in the state because the PDP-Congress regime, despite all its limitations, had provided a more responsive government than the state has witnessed before", she said but regretted 'present dispensation during the last three years has reversed the whole process'.
"Today corruption and misgoverance are the biggest issues before the people of Jammu and Kashmir", she said according to a party statement.
