A six-year-old girl, Anjali Kumari Singh on Monday died after she had fallen into a construction pit filled with water in a construction site inside the Raj Bhawan complex in Shillong in Meghalaya.

The deceased is the daughter of Radhe Shyam Singh who works as a gardener in the Raj Bhavan. Police informed that the girl was spotted falling in the pit that was dug for construction of a concrete pillar and raised the alarm.

Though the girls' parents immediately got her rescued and rushed to Shillong Civil Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

Though the police is not very sure about how the girl fell into the construction hole, no post-mortem was conducted on the body as the family petitioned for exemption from autopsy.

Many of those who saw the tragic incident are holding the contractor responsible for the death of the young girl as no was put to prevent people coming close to pillar holes. The construction is taking place very close to the staff quarters in Raj Bhawan.
