Ghansyam Sarda, one of the accused in a case of supplying faulty medical kits, was arrested at the N S C Bose International Airport in Kolkata on Thursday while trying to board a Delhi-bound plane, a senior police official said.

Ghanshyam is the brother of Govind Sarda, the majority shareholder and director of Monozyme India Private Ltd, a Secundrabad-based company, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detective Department) Gyanwant Singh said.

The company allegedly supplied medical kits for various types of blood tests, including HIV tests, with fudged expiry dates.

Govind and associates Anand Maloo and Bimal Daga were arrested on September 28 and are in judicial custody.

So far, 92,000 faulty diagnostic kits from the godowns of Monozyme besides stores of different government hospitals have been seized.

Monozyme had supplied fudged kits to central blood bank and different government hospitals in West Bengal and a number of them had reportedly been used for tests.
