The hoarding to commemorate martyrs day have been put up across Chandigarh

In a faux pas, photographs of American soldiers were put up in hoardings erected by the city's civic authority in Chandigarh to pay tributes to Indian martyrs.

The hoarding were put up by Chandigarh Municipal Corporation at some places in the city informing the public about the commemoration event which was held on Monday to mark the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.

Along with the images of the three martyrs, the hoardings displayed photographs of armed army personnel with the US flag on their uniforms.

When contacted, Chandigarh Mayor Poonam Sharma was not immediately available for comment.

She is busy in some official meetings, her aide said.

Deputy Mayor Gurbax Rawat said the matter had not come to her notice while councillor H C Kalyan said that he was yet to assume charge of the Art and Culture Wing, and therefore, could not comment on the issue.
