Renovation of the Mantralaya, the Maharashtra state secretariat, which was engulfed by a devastating fire last week is likely cost about Rs 50 crore.
"Civil work and furniture normally costs Rs 2,000 per square feet. Similarly, fixing electricals and air conditioners also adds up to the cost. Out of the total 5.50 lakh square feet area of the Mantralaya building, about 1.50 lakh square feet was damaged. Hence, renovation work should cost approximately Rs 50 crore. The expenditure will exclude the amount to be incurred on logistics," Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Anant Gadgil, who is an architect by profession, told reporters in Mumbai on Tuesday.
