The man who had purportedly sent a message to security agencies threatening to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Mathura visit on May 25 has been held, the police said on Wednesday.
The arrested accused, Ramvir, resident of Navali village in Naujheel area, who had threatened to carry out an explosion during PM's Jan Kalyan Sabha held in Nagla Chadrabhan in May, was found lying on the road near a police station on Tuesday, deputy Superintendent of Police Rajendra Kumar Singh said.
He said Ramvir was not in a conscious state of mind when apprehended and was admitted to a hospital and later handed over to relatives, Singh said.
"Though at present the case is under investigation of district crime branch however prima facie his guilt could not be established. He is a drunkard and drug addict. It appears that some other person manipulated him and sent the message through his phone," the DSP said.
On May 21 the accused had allegedly sent a message to police and to some media persons threatening to make a blast in the public meeting of the prime minister. While Ramvir remained untraceable, his brother Laxman Singh was taken into custody and interrogated.
"It appears that somebody had manipulated him to send the message from his ID, however all facts will be ascertained after the completion of probe," Singh said.
