The Mangalore police on Friday cracked the murder case of Naushad, advocate of Rashid Malabari by arresting 6 persons of the Ravi Poojary gang.

The police in a pre-dawn operation picked up Dinesh, Rithesh, Ganesh, Prathap, Subramanya and Shivakumar who were allegedly involved in the murder of the advocate.

The police recovered 39 mm pistols, Rs 3.5 lakh cash, 3 mobile phones and a Maruti Car from the accused.

The police say the accused who had a criminal background were members of the Ravi Poojary gang.

Poojary, a notorious don is presently hiding in Morocco. After the murder of Naushad, Poojary had called a television news channel and claimed responsibility for the murder.

Police said that the members of this gang were upset that Naushad was defending Malabari who had come to India on the instructions of Chota Shakeel to assassinate Bharatiya Janata Party leader Varun Gandhi and Sri Ram Sena chief Pramod Muthalik.

Naushad was murdered in Mangalore on April 9.
