Churchill and Hitler together!

A rare image of Churchill and Hitler together?

Naah... the two leading men of World War II never met in real life. According to the Churchill Centre, the two men almost met in a German hotel in the 1930s. But Adolf -- by then one of the world's most powerful men -- changed his mind, no doubt thinking it not worth his while to meet the great has-been in British politics, which Churchill then was.

Hitler would have ample occasion to regret his decision. Churchill almost singlehandedly led the campaign against the Fuherer in the House of Commons, the British parliament. Hitler's war-mongering arguably resurrected Churchill's career and led him to being appointed prime minister, leading the Allies eventually to a memorable victory against Fascism.

In the image alongside, waxworks of Churchill and Hitler stand close to each other at Berlin's new Madame Tussaud's wax museum, which will open to the public on Saturday, July 5.

In the image below, journalists look at Hitler in his bunker at Madame Tussaud's Berlin museum. In order not to give the impression that Hitler was in any way a figure to be revered, the Nazi leader appears as a 'broken man' in a mock-up of his bunker just before the end of World War II, spokeswoman Natalie Ruoss said.
