"It is time to redesign the laws governing financial services in India, so that they allow the poor to access financial services," Nobel Laureate from Bangladesh and MD, Grameen Bank, Mohammad Yunus, said at a press meet in Pune on Sunday.

"India should frame a separate microfinance law since it is impossible to take financial services to the grassroot level with the existing framework," Yunus added.

Professor Yunus is the first Sakal Person of the Year.

Sakal is a popular daily owned by Pratap Pawar, the younger brother of Agriculture Minister and BCCI chief Sharad Pawar.
