Centre okays Sewri-Nhava Sheva sea link

The Union environment ministry has cleared the Rs 4000 cr Sewri-Nhava Sheva trans-harbour link, reports said

The 22-km link is important for Mumbaiites because it promises to reduce the time taken to travel the distance from the present two hours to less than an half-an-hour.

A leading Mumbai daily quoted a senior cabinet minister on Thursday as saying that the government was in the process of finalising the appointment of a technical advisor for the project.

The daily quoted Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation as saying that a formal letter from the Centre was awaited.
