One does not know for certain who Sarabjit Singh exactly was.

What exactly was he?

A farmer?

An innocent border-crosser?

A member of a patriotic family of Punjab?

An Indian secret agent as alleged by the Pakistani authorities sent across the border to create instability in Pakistan?

An innocent victim of the never-ending hostility between India and Pakistan?

A patriotic Indian who volunteered to die for his country, if need be, and chose to die?

If Sarabjit was a secret agent as alleged by the Pakistani authorities, only two will know the answers to these questions -- Sarabjit himself and his handling officer.

Many narratives about him have appeared in the media in both the countries in the past.

One does not know what the element of truth in those narratives was.

But, a discerning analyst could see that Sarabjit was an honourable man who chose to die for his country and died ultimately.
