LeT men held in Delhi were under scanner since long

March 01, 2012 21:36 IST

The Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday confirmed that the three Lashkar-e-Tayiba militants arrested by the Delhi police had been on their radar for quite sometime.

"Ehtisham Malik, one of the three arrested militants, had been on the Jammu and Kashmir police radar for quite sometime," Kashmir inspector general of police (IGP), S M Sahai told reporters in Srinagar on Thursday.

"Ehtisham had gone to Pakistan on a passport and had been on our radar. We were keeping a close watch on his activities and his arrest along with two other militants has been the result of coordinated efforts of Jammu and Kashmir police, Delhi and Jharkhand police," Sahai said.

Sahai also said that the renewed thrust of the outfit was 'to recruit local youths with passports'. He said that the latest module unearthed through the arrest of the three persons was not a large one.

"It is a small module and it is only a very few number of the local youths who are being lured by the LeT now."
