Rashtriya Janata Dal chief and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has come out in support of Bharatiya Janata Party president Lal Kishenchand Advani's estranged daughter-in-law Gauri, who has accused the BJP leader of treating her in an indecent, immoral and shameful manner.
The RJD chief also urged the Centre to provide her with adequate security in view of the "threat to her life" in the wake of her allegations.
The RJD will launch a nationwide stir to ensure justice for Gauri, Lalu Prasad said. He said he would raise the issue during Parliament's winter session and demand a probe.
Gauri, in a letter written on November 19 to BJP leader and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief K S Sudershan, had made serious allegations against Advani. She had stated that the decision to marry into Advani's family was her biggest mistake.
RJD Member of Parliament Ramkirpal Yadav distributed copies of the letter to newspersons in Patna. He said Gauri's charges, if true, would mean that Advani had degraded the sanctity of a respected relationship in the Indian society. He said Advani should be tried in court for torturing his daughter-in-law physically and mentally.
The RJD workers will blacken the faces of BJP leaders to protest against Advani's misconduct, Ramkirpal Yadav said.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Sushil Kumar Modi said the BJP would file a defamation suit against Ramkirpal Yadav and others for making derogatory remarks against Advani.
