California assembly speaker Marvin M Dimally will depose before a Delhi court in the Lakhubhai Pathak cheating case.
He will depose through a videoconference from the Indian consulate in San Francisco.
Dimally will testify before special judge Dinesh Dayal as a defence witness called by accused godman Chandraswami.
His testimony will be recorded at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
According to Chandraswamy, Dimally's deposition will be crucial as he was allegedly present at a meeting with former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao in 1986 when the godman had assured Pathak that his work would be done.
Rao, Chandraswamy, and his aide K N Aggarwal alias Mamaji are facing trial in the case.
