The sixth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States will be marked by the release of a new video of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, reports quoted the al Qaeda's media arm as saying.

The video will be the first new images of bin Laden in almost three years. He has not appeared in new video footage since October 2004, and he has not put out a new audiotape in more than a year, his longest period without a message.

The United States homeland security department said there was no information about an imminent threat to the US.

'Soon, God willing, a videotape from the lion sheik Osama bin Laden, God preserve him,' the banner advertisement posted on an Islamic militant web site where Al-Sahab, al Qaeda's media arm, posts its messages.

Analysts say that the video is expected in 72 hours.
