Kurnool city, which has been completely submerged by the floods and backwaters of Srisailam reservoir, has been cut off from the outside world with the road and the rail links being severed by the floods.

Bus services from Hyderabad to Rayalaseema region and Bangalore, passing through Kurnool district, have been suspended. According to state road transport officials, as many as 300 buses have been cancelled on Friday and restoration of buses will be considered only after assessing the situation in the flood hit areas on Saturday.

Bus services from Kurnool to Rayalaseema districts like Kadapa, Anantapur and Chittoor have also been suspended, as most of the rivulets and streams are in spate and had flooded the roads.

Hundreds of trucks and buses were trapped in Kurnool district at different places, including on the road between Kurnool and Mantralayam.

Meanwhile, 33 trains, passing through Kurnool district, have been stopped or diverted to different routes. They include the trains running between Hyderabad and Bangalore, Chennai and New Delhi.
