Kolkata techie's kidnappers held in police raid

The alleged mastermind in the Kolkata techie kidnap case and his two other associates were arrested on Wednesday and Rs 1.90 lakh paid as ransom was also recovered by the police.

The main accused Sanjoy Pal, Manoj Bag and Amit Das in the kidnapping case of Capgemini employee Sandipan Das were arrested on Wednesday morning from various places in the outskirts of the city, North 24 Parganas district Superintendent of Police, Rahul Srivastav said.

"We have also recovered Rs 1.90 lakh from Pal's possession, apart

from seizing three taxis which were used in the kidnapping and for taking ransom," he said. Two others, Arsh Mohammad and Mohammad Mokaddam, who allegedly drove the taxis, were arrested on Tuesday. Sandipan was kidnapped from the state's IT hub at Rajarhat-New Town area in North 24 Parganas district while returning home after work.

He had boarded a taxi which reportedly broke down after a distance. While trying to board another, he was pushed in at gunpoint by three persons and was released only after a ransom of two lakh rupees was paid.
