Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan has said that his government will probe the reported terror connections of People's Democratic Party leader Abdul Nasser Madani.

Addressing media persons after a Cabinet meeting, Achuthanandan said reports on terror links of Madani's wife Sufiya Madani will also be probed.

It had been reported in a section of the media Madani and his wife had links with some extremist elements, who were shot dead by the army in Kashmir .It may be recalled that four youths from Kerala were killed I an encounter while they were trying to cross the border into Pakistan.

Madani's close associate, Yusuf alias Mani, reportedly confessed to the police that the PDP leader and his wife knew one Naseer, who had trained the youths

who were killed in Kashmir.

Yusuf has also said in his statement that Fasila Sainuddin, daughter of Sathar alias Sainuddin who was arrested following the Bangalore blasts, had stayed with Sufiya Madani while she was studying in Ernakulam. Yusuf has also said that several of these
extremist elements were regular visitors at the shop owned by Madani's wife.

It may be recalled that Madani was lodged in Coimbatore central prison as an accused in the Coimbatore bomb blasts aimed at eliminating BJP leader L K Advani when he was to address a massive gathering in the city. Advani escaped unhurt while several people died in the blasts.

Madani denied the charges that he had converted Mani to Islam and added that he had converted to Islam before Madani was jailed.
