Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung on Tuesday met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and informed him about his stand-off with the Aam Aadmi Party government on appointment of acting Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin.

During the 15-minute meeting, Jung told the Home minister the circumstances leading to the appointment of Gamlin, a senior Indian Administrative Services officer, as acting Delhi chief secretary and the process followed in doing that, official sources said.

The Home minister is expected to meet President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday, a day after Jung and Kejriwal's meeting with Mukherjee.

Delhi government comes under the administrative control of the Home Ministry.

The Home ministry is of the opinion that the LG as well as the chief minister should discharge their duties following rules and as per Constitution.

Sources said the Home Ministry has also sought the opinion of the attorney general on the responsibilities and duties of the LG vis-a-vis the city government.

The confrontation over Gamlin's appointment as acting Chief Secretary turned into a full-blown war between the ruling AAP and the lieutenant governor last week with Kejriwal alleging that Jung was trying to take over the administration.

Despite Kejriwal's strong opposition, Jung appointed Gamlin to the post on Friday. On Saturday, the chief minister had asked her not to take charge of the post but she ignored his directive and followed the LG's order.
