Six army troopers were injured in an accidental blast inside a heavily guarded camp of the Rashtriya Rifles in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday morning.

A senior police officer said a powerful grenade went off accidentally while a clean-up operation was going on in the camp.

“Six army jawans were injured in the explosion. The injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment,” the officer said.

In March, a station house officer and five policemen were wounded in similar circumstances in Srinagar.
