K'taka: Krishna unhappy with candidate selection process

Panel of 60 members for candidate selection makes the process unwieldy, says SM Krishna. Vicky Nanjappa reports

Former External Affairs Minister S M Krishna, who has been sidelined by the Congress in Karnataka, told the media in Bangalore that he was not happy with the candidate selection procedure for the assembly elections.

Krishna said he was quite surprised with the manner in which the candidate selection process took place this time around. He said that from the year 1972, he was part of the selection panel which always comprised 15 members. “This time there were 60 members and this is unwieldy,” the Krishna said.

“I stayed away from the selection process this time. How can we finalise candidates when there is such a big panel. It left me in the cold,” he added.

Krishna when asked to give his predictions for the assembly elections, said it was not possible to predict. “Those voting do not reveal who they will cast their ballot. So it’s hard to tell,” he said.
