30 killed in Karnataka bus accident

30 people, including 10 children, were charred to death when the bus they were travelling in fell into a roadside pit and caught fire at Chithradurga in Karnataka on Sunday.

The bus was on it's way to Bengaluru from Surpur in Gulbarga district. The bus is said to have hit a stone while trying to avoid another bus and veered into a gorge near a bridge. On toppling, the bus caught fire and 30 persons were charred to death. 3 persons are said to be in a
critical condition. The bus was carrying 60 people. The remaining passengers were rescued by a police team and were being treated at a nearby hospital.

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa expressed who expressed shock said that many accidents were occurring this region. He said that he would speak with the officials in this regard. Further the CM also announced Rs.100,000 as immediate compensation to the families of the dead and Rs. 25,000 to the injured.
