Former Miss Meerut Priyanka and her friend Anju arrested for allegedly murdering her aged parents, were sent to 14-day judicial custody by a Meerut court on Tuesday.

Chief judicial magistrate Ranbir Singh sent them to judicial custody after they were produced by the Meerut Police in connection with the murder of retired junior engineer Prem Veer and wife Santhosh on the night of November 11-12.

They were taken to Meerut district jail. "The two girls would undergo counselling by medical experts inside the jail," secretary home Kumar Kamlesh told PTI. A separate arrangement would be made for them inside jail and they would be given medical care.

The police had claimed on Monday to have cracked the mysterious double murder at Prem Prayag Colony by arresting Priyanka and Anju.

Both the girls, allegedly ill-treated by their families, had strangulated the aged couple after picking up a quarrel with them, Senior superintendent of police, Raghuveer Lal had said on Monday.
