JK: Huge cache of arms, ammunition recovered, three held

A huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered in the Kashmir Valley and three militant sympathisers were also arrested in separate operations, officials said on Tuesday.

Troops of 19 Rajput unearthed an arms dump during search operations at Behak area near the Line of Control in Trehgam, 130 km from Srinagar, in Kupwara district on Monday, they said.

From the dump, 33 Under Barrel Grenade Launcher grenades, 17 rounds of Rocket Projectile Gun, 14 hand grenades, two rifle grenades, 100 detonators, an AK assault rifle with a magazine, a pistol with a magazine were recovered among other things.

In another operation in Kupwara, security forces recovered four AK magazines with 68 rounds and two pistol magazines from Kundanar forest, 90 km from Sringar, they said.

In a third operation, a militant hideout was busted at Halkhan village of Kokernag in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir which led to the recovery of a self-loading rifle with six rounds, a pistol magazine, 151 rounds and 2.5 kg of explosives, they said.

Two over-ground workers identified as Shabir Ahmad and Sabzar Ahmad Bhat were also arrested by police from Marhama-Bijbehara, 45 km from Sringar, in Anantnag district, they said.

Another suspected militant sympathiser Mohammad Akbar Khan was arrested during a search operation at Aripal village of Tral, 35 km from here, in Pulwama district, they said, adding a hand grenade was recovered from him.
